Rancho Relaxo Bali Wedding Vibes

For gorgeous Sydney couple, Clare and Nathan, Bali was the first and only choice for their destination wedding.

Bali was where their love story got serious with a surprise Motel Mexicola proposal (love this!) and the pair have a serious Bali holiday addiction (like many of us do!) and find themselves back in the beautiful Bali sunshine year after year.  Getting married in Bali just felt right and sure enough… it was perfection.

Clare and Nathan wanted a fun, casual and chilled vibe for their guests.  They opted for canapés and food carts, loads of relaxed seating options for their guests and no seating plan which they think was their best decision – this and the unlimited cocktails!

We love everything about this uber relaxed Bali Wedding but our firm favourite is Clare’s outfit. Honestly, she’s just perfection.

Tell us, how did you meet? Was it Love at first sight?
We met in a Club in Kings Cross Sydney 9 years ago! There was definitely an attraction but no love haha

What about the engagement story? Can you give us a snapshot?
We got engaged in Bali! I was actually on a girl’s trip and my best friend and Nathan had planned for Nathan to come over to Bali and surprise me. We went out to dinner at Motel Mexicola and I was dragged up on stage by one of the staff who sat me on stage and did a “dirty dance” all of a sudden the music stopped and everyone started cheering and screaming, I turned around and Nathan was in Bali, at Mexicola, down on one knee!

So you decided to become Mr & Mrs… Why Bali?
Bali is our favorite place. We had our first holiday together in Bali, we got engaged in Bali and we come here 1-2 times a year. It was an easy choice

How did you choose your Bali wedding planner?  What was her/his Super Power?
I did a bit of research online, and then contacted Your Bali Wedding via email and they were so quick to get back to me and provided me with so much information and detail upfront I knew they were going to be perfect for our wedding

Did you have a theme for the wedding? And was it a late night Pinterest obsession?!
We didn’t have a “Theme” we just wanted a very laid back, chilled vibe. We aren’t fancy and we didn’t want something that wasn’t going to represent us. We also really wanted to choose a venue that spoke for itself and didn’t need too much decorations/props

Did you sit down for a formal dinner or party the night away with canapés and cocktails
We choose to have Canapes for our guest after the ceremony whilst the bridal party went and had photos taken. For the reception we had a few different food stalls which was perfect for our setting as our guests were able to get food throughout the whole night.

We went with a non-seating plan which was probably our best decision as everyone was able to move around and mingle with each other. The unlimited Cocktails were a winner!

Did you have a special song to walk down the aisle to?
It took us a while to choose a song but we decided on Sunset lover by Petit Biscuit

What was the most challenging aspect about planning a destination wedding?
The whole planning process was really easy and our Wedding planner made everything so stress free. I would say the only thing that was difficult/took a while was getting all of our guest’s flight and accommodation details

Talk to us about your hair and make up. Who was your muse?
Hair and make-up were done by Glo Day Spa (AMAZING). We just wanted a really natural look. I went with a pink/bronzed eye and had light/natural curls. The bridesmaid’s went with a similar style with bronzed eyes, and there hair down with light curls

Tell us about your D R E S S ?
I choose to go with a Skirt and top combo. It was perfect for being in Bali and really worked so well with our whole wedding vibes.

What was THE most memorable part of your big day?
There is so many to choose from! I would have to say the speeches. The speeches at any wedding are my favorite part of the entire wedding so to be sitting at our own wedding listening to our friends and family tell their stories and share their love was amazing

If there was one piece of advice you could give a Bali bride planning their big day, what would it be?
Just enjoy the journey, trust your planner and just remember the day is about you & your partner. It will all come together on the day so don’t stress!
