Was it challenging to plan, given it was a destination
wedding?
With guidance from our
amazing wedding planner – Global Weddings – it really was a very smooth and enjoyable ride for us. This was
undoubtedly our best decision, they were fantastic and guided us through the process from choosing our
venue, all our vendors and bringing our vision to life. We began the planning process about 12
months prior, and kept everything organised via Pinterest, Instagram, Spotify and emails.
What theme did you have for the day?
We wanted
to fully embrace Bali so decided on a
tropical theme: greenery and tropical foliage. Everything else we wanted to keep quite subtle and classy
with wooden furniture and white and rose gold accents.
What furniture did you choose to compliment
it?
For our ceremony we had their gorgeous
bench seats with white cushion covers which were perfect. For cocktail hour we had two separate areas set up
with their gorgeous white/grey rattan furniture range mixed with wooden pieces which were perfect
for our tropical vibe, this included lounge chairs, tables, stools and cocktail tables. They also
beautifully fitted out our reception with long teak wooden tables and gorgeous Crossback
chairs with cushion covers.
Tell us about the day itself…
The venue –
Seseh Beach Villa’s in Canggu, which have been
especially designed with weddings in mind; the music – fun, enjoyable and relaxed; with our friend Ghassan
Zammar MCing and DJing providing upbeat tunes after dinner; the flowers, which received endless compliments,
were provided by WiB Flowers, after a stellar recommendation of my planner. And the drinks..
overflowing! One of the big advantages of a Bali wedding is the flexibility you are afforded in
comparison to Australian venues when it comes to food and drinks.
And of course.. we are dying to know… that
dress…
My wedding dress was by New Zealand
designer Rue De Seine Bridal and was called the Seven Gown. Fittingly, and something I didn’t
learn till many months after I’d bought the dress, its design was inspired by the beaches of Bali. It
had a romantic silhouette covered with a bohemian style lace, a structured bustier bodice, figure fitting
skirt from waist through to knee, bias cut lining with fluting lace hemline and full train, along with
gorgeous detachable lace arm bands. The lace was ivory but the underlay had a bone grey tone to
it.
And your accessories?
I wore deco style
pear-shaped studs by Samantha
Willis, my solitaire engagement ring custom made by Sinclair Jewellers in Applecross and later that day
of course my custom wedding band, a fine, full-circle, 18ct white gold band with diamonds and a
subtle art deco style to it.
Best part of the day?
I would have to say our
ceremony when we exchanged our vows,
it was just like tunnel vision and I can still remember it so clearly.
And finally, any advice to brides-to-be considering Bali as
their choice of destination
wedding?
A reputable and experienced wedding planner is an absolute must. You still
have full control over your day without the onslaught of working through a million possible options for
every little decision. They will be able to provide a number of vetted recommendations for venues
and key vendors (photographers, videographers, hire furniture, decorators, florists, caters etc.)
