A Stylist’s Bali Wedding: Palm Springs and a bit of Black Tie in the Jungle

We had the pleasure of providing the furniture for Jane’s 30th birthday in Umalas in 2014 (which was impeccably styled by her talented self) so we were super excited about the magic she’d create for her own wedding to Michael last year. And, there was definitely magic! Think Oscar De La Renta’s 2015 Spring Ready-to-Wear Collection, tarot readers and crab racing plus lots of beautiful décor and a Chartreuse wedding gown! Enjoy.

Bride: Jane Peebles (Evans)
Groom: Michael Peebles
Where do you live? Perth, WA
Wedding Date: September 28 2015

Tell us, how did you meet? Was it Love at first sight?
Well, we are both from Perth and met in Bali in 2008. Mike was on a ‘boys trip’ for a friend’s bday party and I was on a ‘girls trip’ for a friends wedding and our paths crossed at Ku De Ta one fateful Sunday arvo. We spent the next few days together and continued the holiday fling back home! There were definite sparks the minute we met.

What about the engagement story? Can you give us a snapshot?
On one of our annual Bali visits, we were over on Nusa Lembongan celebrating my 30th bday and Mike popped the question! I told him I would leave him if he hadn’t done it by my 30th bday – he got in just in time!!

So you decided to become Mr & Mrs… Why Bali?
We met there, fell in love there and got engaged there – so it just seemed the perfect location to tie the knot. Plus we love the island and wanted all our family and friends to experience what we do each time we go.

How did you choose your Bali wedding planner?  What was her/his Super Power?
Sinly Anfeny from Bali Wedding Paradise had come highly recommended from two of our friends who had married in Bali before us – we had attended and loved them both! I was such a particular bride and Sinly was perfect at providing on-the-ground support. Nothing was too hard. Well, the hunt to find crazy crabs for our crab racing table almost drove her to insanity I’m sure, but as always, she pulled through with the goods!

Did you have a theme for the wedding? And was it a late night Pinterest obsession?!
It wasn’t your textbook Bali wedding, I wanted to create an event to remember – the theme was a bit Palm Springs, a bit Hollywood, a bit ‘black tie in the jungle’.  And yes, I spent maaaaaaaany a late night hour on Pinterest and Instagram!

How involved were you in the creative process?
Very. I have a styling background so the look of the event was the most important part for me and I took full creative control.
